Light Therapy for Acne - What is it?

Light therapy for acne is a recent scientifically breakthrough that has recently been approved by the FDA but only for mild to moderate acne cases.

Here is the process explained in simple words.

Light therapy to get rid of acne uses a blue or red light wave. The affected area are then exposed to that light for duration of 20 to 30 minutes. The blue light is generally used to attack and destroy the acne bacteria (Bacteria Propionibacterium) while the red light is used to help reduce the swelling and the inflammation caused by the white blood cells.

Imagine is every problem you face only had one cause, things would be so much easier because we would have a lot less trouble to find a solution or a cure for it. Our particular problem here is acne of course. If every acne cases on the planet would be triggered by the same cause, we would have found a permanent cure for it a long time ago. However, life is not that easy and the case od acne is rather muddled and the causes can be attributed to many instances. Add to that that each of theses instances varies from one person to the next, so yes the causes of acne are rather unclear.

Even though we don’t fully understand the causes behind acne, we have a pretty good understanding of the underlying process behind the occurrence of acne. Scientists still have some ground to cover in that area but here is what we know so far. The reason behind acne breakouts is linked with the production of excess oil by the sebaceous gland of the skin. This excess oil then mix with your dead skin thus blocking your skin pores which gives rise to pimples.

Another aspect to consider when considering the causes behind acne is the hormones produced in the body. Though this does not happens to everyone, a lot of teenagers suffers from acne during their puberty.
