CoolScuplting

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical procedure that freeze and destroys fat below the surface of the skin. It is applied with a hand held device. Patience can experience some weight loss but it it's purpose is more to contour the shape in combination with a healthy diet and exercise. Men and women can be good candidates for CoolSculpting. The procedure uses cool temperatures so you should not undergo the procedure if you cryoglobulinemia, paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, or cold agglutinin disease. Some plastic surgeons and dermatologist use CoolSculpting in combination with other body contouring procedures like liposuction. Ask your physician which options are best for the cosmetic goals you are trying to accomplish.

The procedure

The treatment area will be pinched into the CoolSculpting applicator. You should not feel pain, only some pressure and suction for the first few minutes of the treatment. After that, the target area will become numb to the cold. The treatment will last roughly 60 minutes, during which you can read, check email, watch a movie, or even nap. After the applicator process if it feels like there is “extra love handles underneath the skin” this fat will be sucked up by the applicator. Your provider will massage the site, and the lump should quickly disappear. As this is a no-downtime procedure, you’ll be free to continue with your regular activities right away.

What happens to the fat?

The fat cells are removed permanently. As adults, we don’t produce new fat cells, so the number of cells destroyed and removed from the body remains permanent. That said, when we gain weight, our fat cells expand. Gaining weight after CoolSculpting could still mean an increase in the size of the remaining fat cells.

What the difference between liposuction and Coolsculpting?

Liposuction can produce dramatic results and sometime requires general anesthesia. Coolsculpting does not require anesthesia but produces less dramatic results.

Cryotherapy

Cryosurgery is a highly effective treatment for a broad range of benign skin problems. Cryosurgery is best suited for use in patients with light skin and for treatment of lesions in most non–hair-bearing areas of the body. Benign skin lesions that are suitable for freezing include actinic keratosis, solar lentigo, seborrheic keratosis, viral wart, molluscum contagiosum, and dermatofibroma. Spray methods include the timed spot freeze technique, the rotary or spiral pattern, and the paintbrush method. Benign skin lesions that are suitable for freezing include actinic keratosis, solar lentigo, seborrheic keratosis, viral wart, molluscum contagiosum, and dermatofibroma. Potential side effects include bleeding, blister formation, headache, hair loss, and hypopigmentation, but rarely scarring. Skin lesions often can be treated in a single session, although some require several treatments. Cryotherapy is a pain treatment that uses a method of localized freezing temperatures to deaden an irritated nerve.
