Shingles

Shingles is a painful rash that is usually on one side of the face or body. Shingles symptoms include a rash that can cause blisters that usually scab after 7-10 days. Shingles is related to Chicken Pox, and is caused by the varicella zoster virus. The risk of getting Shingles increases as people age especially after age 60. Call a board certified dermatologist.

Is Shingles contagious?

Shingles is not contagious but it can be spread from some with an active case to someone who has never had Chicken Pox. The virus is spread by fluid from the blister to another but once the blister develops a crust it is no longer contagious. This should answer the question: “Are shingles contagious?”

There are three forms of botulinum toxin type A (Botox, Dysport and Xeomin) The Botox treatment is an out patient, in office treatment. How long do the results last?

Adverse reactions:

There are several adverse reactions that some people experience after your Botox treatment. Some people have redness, swelling or irritation around the treatment area. Some experience temporary muscle weakness. Rarely patience will have headaches, nausea or fever.
